Papillon, Squirrel Spaniel, Butterfly Dog or Continental Toy Spaniel

Papillon Dog Information

The Papillon is sometimes called the Squirrel Spaniel because the tail curls over their back or Butterfly Dog because their ears look like butterfly wings. Formally the breed is also called the Continental Toy Spaniel or Epagneul nain Continental. They have a medium, long, fine, straight, soft hair and come in white and some other color.

Papillon Dog Breed

The Papillon is a tough, friendly, intelligent dog that loves the outdoors. Charming, vivacious and playful, this dog loves to cuddle with their masters. They do not yap. They are very capable hunters, steady and silent.

The Papillon does not do very well with younger children, but are OK with gentle older children and other animals when socialized with them from puppyhood.
